Lightmode ("we", "our", or "us") operates GhostRadar (the
"App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is
processed when you use GhostRadar, how it is used, when it may
be shared, and the choices and rights you have.
In this Privacy Policy, "Message Data" means message content,
timestamps, participant identifiers, contact names, imported chat
files, and similar source data that you choose to analyze with
GhostRadar. "Conversation Analytics" means analytics, scores,
rankings, exports, share assets, and related outputs generated by
the App from your Message Data. "Optional Analytics and
Diagnostics" means app usage events, device and app information,
crash reports, error logs, and similar diagnostic signals that are
processed only if you choose to enable them.
GhostRadar is built around local processing. Your Message Data
and Conversation Analytics are processed on your Mac, not on our
servers.
Your Message Data and Conversation Analytics stay on your Mac
GhostRadar is designed so that your Message Data, Conversation
Analytics, and most related app data stay on your Mac unless you
choose to export or share something yourself. We do not upload or
store your Message Data or Conversation Analytics on our servers,
and we do not have routine access to them.
GhostRadar may still make network requests for things like
payments, subscription validation, product updates, support,
security, or Optional Analytics and Diagnostics. Those network
requests do not intentionally include your Message Data or
Conversation Analytics unless you choose to send information to
us for support.
If you export or share analytics, screenshots, or share assets,
that disclosure is initiated by you and may expose personal data
to the recipients or platforms you choose.
Information GhostRadar processes
Message Data and Conversation Analytics (local only):
- GhostRadar accesses message content, timestamps, participant identifiers, contact names, and similar data locally to display features and analytics such as response times, streaks, initiative, balance, ghost probability, ghost index, rankings, and related insights.
- For iMessage and WhatsApp, GhostRadar reads local database files on your Mac.
- For other supported sources, GhostRadar reads exported files that you manually provide. Supported sources may include Snapchat, Instagram, Telegram, TikTok, Messenger, and other sources we may support over time.
- All generated Conversation Analytics, local exports, and share assets created by the App are generated and stored locally unless and until you choose to share or export them.
- We do not receive or store Message Data or Conversation Analytics in the ordinary course of providing GhostRadar.
Subscription and purchase information:
- Your email address and purchase-related contact details
- Your plan, subscription status, renewal information, entitlement status, and receipt metadata
- Transaction identifiers, refund or chargeback status, and limited billing metadata
- Payment card details and similar payment credentials are processed by our payment provider, not by us
We use this information to activate, validate, maintain, restore,
and support paid access, to handle refunds, chargebacks, and
billing questions, and to keep records required for accounting,
tax, and legal purposes.
Optional Analytics and Diagnostics (off by default):
- App usage events, such as screens viewed, features used, or settings interactions
- Crash reports, error logs, and diagnostic signals
Optional Analytics and Diagnostics are off by default. If you
choose to enable them, we do not intentionally send your Message
Data or Conversation Analytics as part of analytics events.
Support communications:
- Your email address and any other contact information you include
- The content of your message and any screenshots, logs, exports, or attachments you choose to send
- Basic technical context needed to troubleshoot, such as app version, macOS version, or purchase details
Please avoid sending more personal data than necessary when you
contact support.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide GhostRadar and its features
- Activate, validate, maintain, and restore subscriptions or paid entitlements
- Provide customer support and respond to requests
- Understand product performance, improve GhostRadar, and fix bugs when Optional Analytics and Diagnostics are enabled
- Protect GhostRadar, prevent fraud, abuse, and chargeback misuse, and maintain security
- Comply with legal obligations and maintain accounting, tax, and dispute records
Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing
personal information, we generally rely on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract to provide the App, paid features, subscription support, and requested services
- Consent for Optional Analytics and Diagnostics that you choose to enable
- Legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention, customer support, service administration, and product operations
- Legal obligations for tax, accounting, refunds, disputes, compliance, and recordkeeping
How information is shared
We do not share your Message Data or Conversation Analytics
because we do not receive that information in the ordinary course
of operating GhostRadar. We may share limited personal
information in the following circumstances:
- Payment and subscription providers: with vendors such as Gumroad that process payments, purchases, subscriptions, entitlements, refunds, and related billing activities
- Optional analytics providers: if you enable Optional Analytics and Diagnostics, relevant event, device, and network metadata may be sent to providers such as Amplitude
- Support and communications: with service providers that help transmit or manage support communications when you contact us
- Legal and safety: if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, respond to lawful requests, or protect rights, safety, and security
- Business changes: if GhostRadar or its assets are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that process
International transfers
Some of our service providers may process personal information in
countries other than your own. Depending on your location and the
provider involved, this may include countries that do not provide
the same level of legal protection as your home jurisdiction.
Where applicable, we will take steps required by law for
cross-border transfers of personal information that we control.
What we do not do
To be clear, GhostRadar does not:
- Upload or store your Message Data or Conversation Analytics on our servers
- Sell or rent your personal information
- Use your Message Data for advertising, ad targeting, or cross-context behavioral advertising
- Use your Message Data to train generalized models or unrelated products
- Give advertisers access to your Message Data
- Intentionally include your Message Data or Conversation Analytics in Optional Analytics and Diagnostics events
Third-Party Services
GhostRadar may use the following third-party services:
- Amplitude – Optional Analytics and Diagnostics, only if you enable them
- Gumroad – subscription and payment processing
These third-party services operate under their own privacy
policies and terms. We encourage you to review them.
Data retention
- Message Data and Conversation Analytics: retained on your Mac until you delete them, remove them from the App, or uninstall GhostRadar
- Subscription and purchase information: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to manage entitlements, handle refunds and disputes, prevent fraud, and comply with accounting, tax, and legal obligations
- Optional Analytics and Diagnostics: if enabled, retained according to our configuration and the relevant provider's retention or deletion practices
- Support communications: retained as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain an appropriate support history, and protect our rights
Your choices and rights
You can control your data in the following ways:
- Access, review, export, and manage your local data directly in the App
- Delete local data in the App or uninstall GhostRadar to remove app-stored local data from your Mac
- Keep Optional Analytics and Diagnostics disabled, or turn them off at any time in GhostRadar settings
- Manage or cancel your subscription using the link in your purchase confirmation email or other provider tools
- Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent with respect to server-side personal information we control, where those rights apply
Because your Message Data and most Conversation Analytics stay on
your Mac, we often cannot access that data for you and cannot
delete it remotely on your behalf.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to data
portability or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
or other regulator.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational
safeguards designed to protect the personal information we do
process. Because GhostRadar is primarily local-first, the
security of your Mac, device access, backups, and any files or
exports you create also matters.
No method of transmission, storage, or security control is
completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Adults only
GhostRadar is intended only for adults. You must be at least 18
years old to use GhostRadar. We do not knowingly collect personal
information directly from anyone under 18 in connection with
subscription and purchase information, support communications, or
Optional Analytics and Diagnostics.
If you believe we have collected server-side personal information
from someone under 18, contact us and we will take appropriate
steps to investigate and, where feasible and required by law,
delete that information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make
material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you,
such as through the App, by email if available, or by posting the
updated policy on our website. The "Last updated" date above
indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised.
